Sophie Sophia is obsessed with music from the eighties. She also sees marching band pandas, plays guitar with The Cure, and has an eccentric physicist father who vanishes for days and sees things other people don’t see. But when he disappears for good – and she moves from Brooklyn to Illinois – things take a turn for the weird. Sophie starts seeing things, just like her dad.

Guided by Walt, a giant panda, Finny, her best friend/boy genius, and Drew, a Kerouac-loving bookworm, Sophie decides to find her father and figure out her visions, once and for all. Armed with her trusty Walkman and friends, she travels back to where it all began – New York City and NYU’s physics department. As she discovers more about her Dad’s research on string theory, alternate universes, and her father, himself, Sophie opens her eyes – and her heart – to the world’s infinite possibilities.

“String theory physics, cute hipster fashion, 1980s hit music, and giant pandas to guide you through it all: This is the marvelous world of The Theory of Everything, a.k.a. a world we would like to drop everything and start living in right this minute.”

– MTV.com, Hollywood Crush

kudos

“In this blend of realism, science fiction, and fantasy, Sophie learns about love, acceptance, and how to control her travel episodes. But still – will those talking pandas return?”

— Booklist

“Luna has a vibrant, quotable style that gives Sophie’s narration considerable charm, and Sophie’s longing for her beloved, if unpredictable, father is poignantly expressed through her flashbacks to her life with him.”

— The Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books

“The Theory of Everything is quirky, great fun, hugely inventive and terrific reading for teens.”

— Nancy Pearl, Vigilante Librarian, on KUOW’s The Record with Steve Scher

What started out as pep talks for my dog turned out to be pep talks for me, too. Each one also comes with banners/ribbons/award trophies you can print out for your dog and yourself. Petey Sellers sincerely hopes you’ll join us. It’s free!
